Wow!

Side Door Sessions - Session #1 is in the books!
I'm worn out from all the preparing, partying, and playing, but I'll say thanks to everybody who helped out. [Wayne, Jim, Ralph, Wilson, Dale, Christine, Dr. Hansen, Asenath, Casey, Doug, Keith, Laurie...and anyone and everyone else I missed.]

We had some good music from Doublenaught Jethro, Asenath, Due South*, and the Java Brothers.

Thanks everybody for a great night.

Many cudos go to Chris. What a job you did pulling this off! I thought the room was great, the crowd just like you would want them, and the music excellent. There was a good mix of types of music which kept everyone interested. The food was great, too. It was a fun night. A good way to knock out a Sat. night in the City of Radford.

Seems this could be something that will catch on. Any help that you need getting the other one going, I will do. I we start promoting now, we can sell it out and maybe get a bigger name in there for the final set.

Believe it or not, my wife, my daughter, and her boyfriend, were returning to my daughter's apartment on Grove Ave. after a movie at the Radford Theater around 9:45 Saturday night, when we paused to listen to a "lonesome sound" in the distance. As we walked up the hill (known as Third Ave.), the music grew louder and louder. Eventually, we found ourselves across the street from an office building where there was obviously a bluegrass jam going on on the second floor. We stopped for a few minutes "absorbing" the music, and wondered "what is goin' on." We could see a few heads through the window and the top of an upright bass. If only we had walked around the corner and seen the Side Door sign, perhaps we would have come up to enjoy the scene. Anyway, my curiosity was heightened and prompted an internet search the day after which led to this posting. Congratulations on your first event! The next time I am visting my daughter (a junior at Radford University) I will be sure and check out the goings-on at the Side Door. I'm a bluegrasser myself from the Hampton Roads area of VA, and I am always interested in the local bluegrass venues wherever I vist. Good luck, and I hope to see you on my next visit.

Hey 14Frets! We'll get a bigger sign next time! Please do tune in the web site for more info. If you visit your daughter on a Monday, there's a jam at the Coffee Mill every week. 7-10PM Mondays.

I'll be posting some music on the site, too.

Very cool event. I know several folks who were outta town Saturday, but would've been there otherwise.

Highlights were many:
The Due South BBQ Bunch were awesome.
Wayne and Asenath were in fine form.
Doug and Casey proved indisputably that they can any style, with anybody at any time.

Nice job, Chris, Christine and to Wayne for lugging the speaker up the stairs!
