Gillies in Blacksburg

The Java Brothers played quite a fiery set at Gillies last Saturday night. We had Patrick Turner sitting in on fiddle and the mighty Timmy Mills on the banjo.
Thanks to all the local folks who came out and extra special thanks to those who contributed to the tip jar and bought cds. We thank you heartily!

We'll be back at Gillies before too long -we're scheduled for February 4th, 2012!
Come on out!

JB*s at Sinkland Farms.

We tore it up. Davis was sittin in for Ralph and proved for certain that she's too good to be playin' with chumps like us!

That said, the band was feelin' groovy and everything seemed easy.

This includes Wayne taking multiple requests. Fox on the Run? Check.
Grandma's Feather Bed? Who requests that? No matter, Wayne had it covered.

Joe, Doug, and Chris were there normal selves and sounded pretty good, I think.
Bill Adams didn't show fatigue after his earlier Cowboy set.

It's always fun to rock the Farm, I guess.

Hot Rize at the Jefferson Center

The Java Brothers had a band outing to the Jefferson Center on Friday night to see a rare treat, a visit from Hot Rize and Red Knuckles & the Trailblazers. The guys, Tim O'Brien, Nick Forster, Dr Banjo Pete Wernick, and guitar ace Bryan Sutton, put on an awesome show to an appreciative crowd. Forster joked that the hits "just keep comin'" but he was right. There wasn't a clunker in the setlist.

Red and the Blazers were great, too!
