Beautiful Summer Night

It was perfect jammin' weather tonight, and Brian and PJ, fresh from Galax, and Mr. Slash led a serious outside Jam at the Mill tonight. The jam inside was good too, and there was lots of new blood, and old blood, and temporary blood, and everybody was playin' good and havin' a good time. I think we're winning over some of the new Sharkey's walk-bys, too.

Y'all can add comments. It was a notable night only because the joint was all smiles. Wilson's back to his old self, Sloane is back and fiddlin' better and harder than ever, we're bringing in some new tunes, and Kendall whipped us up a real boss Java Brothers poster.

Life is good today!

Kendall wants it to be on a T shirt!

We had four, count 'em FOUR fiddles at one point. We're taking over!

Wayne broke out the Ron Black gospel churner, "Along the Way" and picked a mess of solos (as opposed to my "messy solos.")

Doug led us to Cincinnati for a little ragtime tuneage. The outside jamming looked good from the window -- a good crowd gathered on the street.

According to the guest book, the past month, we've been visited by folks from Atlanta, Boston, Akron, Fairfax, Petaluma, CA, Kennesaw and Elijay, GA, Crozet, VA, Austin, TX, Phoenix, Boynton Beach, FL, Culpeper, VA, Breaks, VA, and other exotic locales, not to mention neighbors from Radford, Blacksburg, Cburg, Pulaski, Dublin, etc.

The proceedings were analyzed and critiqued at a post-jam meeting at Sharkey's. Let me tell you something -- that back deck, while smile and close to the train tracks, would've been a perfect spot for a little 11 o'clock jam session.

I didn't get to see the drawing! Give me a description. It was quite the good time. Probably one of the better sessions as far as having two complete jams going on, and plenty of happy folks listening. Mr. Linkous got that "thang" shaking at one point to where I didn't know if I could continue playing. The lady he was trying to get dancing was having a hard time holding him off!!

The deck at Sharkey's would make a nice after jam locale. Wonder if they'd let us give it a try in a couple of weeks. (selfishly I want to wait a week, so I can be there!!)

Anyways the gospel is coming along and I thing the JB's will be ready for Grove Church on the 24th. Will they be ready for us?? We'll schedule a practice soon....
