Fun times in Floyd

Chris, Wayne, Susan, Joe, and Dale had a good ol' time in Floyd tonight. We picked a bunch a tunes! Christine, Isabella, and Chris' brother Lou hung out for most of the set, though Isabella conked out at about 9:30. Scott Patrick dropped in for a few tunes at the end. Boy, that kid can pick!

Everybody wants to know who's playing the Side Door on 1/19/2008. Other than Asenath, the lineup is pretty wide open. If you have any ideas for music, let me know.

Today is the first day of winter, the shortest day and the longest night of the year...so look forward to Spring!

I think we should mark our calendars.
Bluegrass master Del McCoury offered up a holiday gift to music fans today with the announcement that he’ll be hosting a world-class music festival over Memorial Day weekend in 2008. Produced in association with High Sierra Music, Delfest will build on McCoury's record in presenting a popular New Year’s Eve concert, Del McCouiry and Friends Celebrate New Years at the Ryman at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, his success with his own McCoury Music label—and, of course, his reputation as a legendary artist whose appeal crosses generations and genres—to offer a festival experience stamped with the unique McCoury touch.

Personally chosen by Del, Allegany County Fairgrounds in Cumberland, MD is a perfect location, nestled along the Potomac River in the scenic Appalachian Mountains yet convenient to four major airports and easily reached by rail or road, with ample tent and RV camping on site as well as plentiful lodging nearby. Those who venture into the surrounding area will find a range of recreational options, including swimming, fishing, hiking, and biking. Finally, VIP packages will be available for those who want to take their Delfest experience to the ultimate level.

It was a good time!! Not a large crowd, but everyone that was there seemed pleased. Thanks to Susan and Dale for filling in as a JB*s!!

How did the guy from California, I think Lou was his name, like the festivities? Coudos to him for picking up the dinner tab! Looks like we have our first financial backer........

Hope to see more faces out for the 1/11 show at the Store.

Foggy Mountain Top
Blackberry Blossom
Salt Creek

Honky Tonk
Pickin' The Sundown!
Through the Bottom of the Glass
I'm Still Talking to You
Big Mon
Blue Night
Hit Parade
Pretty Polly
More Pretty Girls Than One
Hmmm....What Else? That wasn't the order at all, but I think I got most of the songs.

Lou dug the show. He's more of a rock n roll fan, but he had good things to say. He thought you all were impressive pickers. Thanks again to Dale, he took on a lot of the harmony chores and brought some good ol tunes to the set. Thanks Mistah Dale!
I had my Zen out there making the rough recording. I listened to it on the way home from from MD last night. We blasted the roof off on a couple of them, which is the way I dig it. Joe was a machine gun, and Wayne played a whole bunch of mando lead. It was cool to instantly re-arrange the tunes. Susan made the show. She had to play all those tunes with no warning, (err...practice) and she was right on top of it. Susan even bought one of the picures on display. The guys wanted the one with three naked ladies, but Susan got the more tasteful single suggested nude.

Anybody up for playing between Chrismas and New Year's?

I could pick some on Wed. during the day or night, Thurs. during the day and Fri. during the day. Could pick Sat. or Sunday night, too.

I've suggested the JB's practice after the new year in order to get ready for the store on the 11th. Joe has offered up his place or the place in Snowville. The evening of the 6th looks promising for me.........
