A blog for bluegrass fans to talk about bluegrass or whatever and to check up on the Java Brothers Bluegrass Band from Radford, Virginia. We are progressive, but pretty much only to the extent that we'll play new songs as hard driving bluegrass. We love Bill Monroe, the Stanley Brothers, The Seldom Scene, JD Crowe, Tony Rice, Sam Bush, the Country Gentlemen, the Beatles, the Stones, and all the greats.

Not too bad! For just kinda throwing a group together and having a little fun, we did alright.
I wonder if my Zen records that good. May bring it to practice on Sunday and find out!
Right on. I hope it does! Great advice I got, but fail to ever follow is, if you want to get good at picking, tape yourself some rhythm tracks and play to them.
So tape yourself playing rhythm to Salt Creek, or Clinch Mountain, or Blackberry or whatever and practice to the recording. Like I said, I rarely do it, but it's always helpful. (Actually, we're lucky, because we have the jam, and we're never short of pals to pick with, but still it's a good exercise.)
As for the recording of the Loft, it is a testament to us (particulary Susan and Dale) that we can just get together and play a show that sounds pretty good. Imagine what practice would do for us!
