A blog for bluegrass fans to talk about bluegrass or whatever and to check up on the Java Brothers Bluegrass Band from Radford, Virginia. We are progressive, but pretty much only to the extent that we'll play new songs as hard driving bluegrass. We love Bill Monroe, the Stanley Brothers, The Seldom Scene, JD Crowe, Tony Rice, Sam Bush, the Country Gentlemen, the Beatles, the Stones, and all the greats.

It was a good one. Nice group of pickers. Young Jason/Alex, Nancy, Frankie, Mary, Joe, Kendall, Ralph, Brian, Doug, and myself. Your friend that plays the mando that was at the July 4th party was there too. Good crowd with a few newbies mixed in among the regulars. Lots of tunes, lots of laughs, and in general the same good time.
We missed ya!
A little smaller crowd of listeners and jammers (what, with you out) but a high-quality affair nonetheless. Fine music pickin' from start to finish.
With Richard and Doug D. making it down regularly, the fiddles are taking over! We need to get Doug to break out some of his "obscure" numbers. He knows a thousand. Sloane showed up briefly with his arm in a sling. He had his second shoulder surgery in six months and he hopes this one took.
Christian is the fella Wayne's talking about.
MR. Christian is a good egg. Gotta force him to play some of the tunes he knows. He's a champion practicer-knows a lot of tunes but somewhat timid about throwing them out there. (Like everybody else, I guess.)
