A blog for bluegrass fans to talk about bluegrass or whatever and to check up on the Java Brothers Bluegrass Band from Radford, Virginia. We are progressive, but pretty much only to the extent that we'll play new songs as hard driving bluegrass. We love Bill Monroe, the Stanley Brothers, The Seldom Scene, JD Crowe, Tony Rice, Sam Bush, the Country Gentlemen, the Beatles, the Stones, and all the greats.

Friends don't let friends sound like that and appear in public. Man, if that is how I really sound, then maybe rythmn guitar should be my only contribution.
You guys sound great!
Knock it off! You're going to the big time. We're just riding your coattails. I thought the band sounded pretty tight on this one (especially for not having played it as a group).
That's why I put it up.
I agree with Chris. I think it sounds good, especially the harmonies.
Wayne, hearing yourself singing is no different than hearing your speaking voice on a tape recorder -- you always think "I sound like THAT?!!!"
I remember listening to playbacks from Black Twig Pickers sessions and I'd just want to quit music all together. I'd break into sweats every time my fiddle or voice came on (now, granted, my playing and singing weren't very GOOD, but that's another story). Now, when I listen to those recordings, I don't think they sound so bad.
It's tough not to be hypersensitive about one's voice or playing. But, trust us, if you truly sucked, we'd never let you sing!!!
Thanks for the kind words and encouragement guys. Even my wife, a tough critic, says that I sound fine. She pretty much said what you did Ralph. "If you were that bad, they would tell you to stop singing"
See yall soon!
Chris right, Ralph right, Angie right, Wayne finally accepts accolades. MMM... What to post next?
Nothin' stoppin' the rest of you from makin' your videos. I race to hear the tapes to convince myself that the mistakes I heard in the show were not that noticeable. Then I ignore all mistakes. ON to the next show!
